A few weeks back, Lotsa Style asked me if I’d be interested in trying out their Mini Countertop Trash Can in my craft room. And as a lover of anything and everything related to organization, I, of course, said yes. I haven’t posted here about my craft room much, but I have a decent-sized space in a spare bedroom that I split about 50-50 (ok, maybe 60-40) with my kids and functions as a playroom for everyone.
My half of the room consists mostly of one wall of cabinets with a long workbench, and two large desks that function as a coloring station (left) and a photo/video area (right). This is a picture I took right after I first moved into the room nearly two years ago. At the time, I was actually working in the craft industry and needed this much room for my job…I have since stepped down to focus on my family and more casual design team work, but the studio still looks about the same. 😉
I am a neat freak. As you can probably tell, I don’t like to create in a mess. I chose cabinet storage for all of my supplies versus the popular open cube storage for this reason…but also because I have two small children who would love to get into all those paints, inks, glues (hello cabinet locks!). See that big trash can under the desk on the left? It gets knocked over by my 1.5-year-old or one of my two nosy cats almost every other day as they search for ribbons, paper scraps, or whatever else to play with.
Enter the Mini Countertop Trash Can. Not only does it keep the most enticing rubbish up and away from curious little hands and paws, but I can easily move it to whatever area I’m working in and toss out my ribbon scraps, poke out all those tiny die-cut pieces, or weed vinyl designs directly into it without bending over the large can on the floor.
The trash can cover is removable and fully customizable (it also comes in a couple of other colors, but the white is my favorite). In honor of those nosy cats of mine, I added a fun vinyl design that I cut with my Silhouette CAMEO. The smooth surface is perfect for stickers, washi tape, or even alcohol markers too.
Whenever it gets full, you just pull off the cover to remove the liner and toss it in with your other trash (bags can be purchased with the unit or you can use it without). I love how well the sleek styling of this piece goes with my uber-neat room and have been eyeing up this makeup organizer for my blending brushes and foams next!
