Country Road Collection by Annie Williams

Hello crafty friends!  I am beyond excited to be back today to share a couple of projects made with my brand new collection from Spellbinders, the Country Road Collection by Annie Williams.  (You can check out the rest of the May release here…so much good stuff!)  It truly was an honor to be asked to collaborate with such a wonderful company on this collection of stamps and dies and I am so pleased with the final products.  I hope you love them too!

This collection is inspired by rural Pennsylvania, a place my family now calls home after many years of moving from city to city to pursue my education and career in science.   When we traded busy city streets for rolling country roads, I was struck by the beautiful gardens and entryways my friends and neighbors spent countless hours building to create the warm and welcoming community around me.

There are five products in this collection – four die sets and a stamp and die set (you can buy the whole collection and save with this bundle!).  Each set was carefully designed with versatility in mind and to work with all of the other sets in the collection.  My hope is that you’ll find yourself inspired to use this suite of products to create projects for different occasions and seasons all year long!

COUNTRY WHEELBARROW CARD

The Country Wheelbarrow Die Set was one of my favorite sets to design because it can be used as a vessel to carry just about anything, and therefore customized for occasions year-round!  Here I’ve filled it full of leafy branches and brightly colored flowers from the Garden Builder Die Set for a pretty spring thank you card.

There are loads of flowers, sprigs, leaves, and branches to choose from in the Garden Builder Die Set and I picked some of the simpler shapes to keep the focus on that pretty wheelbarrow (check out the gorgeous woodgrain details on all of the panels!).  I added the fun image to an oval cut with the Essential Ovals Die Set, inked with Salty Ocean and Mowed Lawn Distress Ink for a bit of atmosphere, and stamped with a fun and fitting greeting from the Welcome Sign & Sentiments Stamp & Die Set.  The card front has been embossed with the Flower Frenzy 3D Embossing Folder.

SUMMER VEGGIES WHEELBARROW

Here I’ve assembled the Country Wheelbarrow in fresh John Deere-inspired colors and added some yummy veggies from the Seasonal Decor Die Set inside for a cute summertime love card.  The Seasonal Decor Die Set includes peppers, tomatoes, carrots, pumpkins, and so much more!

For the greeting, I’ve altered the sign from the Welcome Sign & Sentiments Stamp & Die Set to look like a garden marker.  The sunshine decorative inlay and cute sentiment go perfectly with this load of veggies!  I embossed the card front with the Sun Rays Embossing Folder to really let that wheelbarrow shine.

HOLIDAY FLATBED WHEELBARROW CARD

Did I mention the Country Wheelbarrow was designed so that the side panels could be removed too?  Just like a real Amish-style wheelbarrow, you can turn it into a flatbed for even more versatility.  I filled this one full of pine sprigs from the Garden Builder Die Set and logs from the Seasonal Decor Die Set for a wintry holiday card.

I stamped a coordinating sentiment from the Welcome Sign & Sentiments Stamp & Die Set onto a white background panel I had cut using the Fluted Classics Rectangles Die Set.  After placing my wheelbarrow front and center, I added a cute gift box cut with the Seasonal Decor Die Set to really intensify the holiday cheer.

RUSTIC GARDEN CARD

The Rustic Garden Die Set includes all of the dies you need to build a beautiful country garden scene –a wagon wheel, barrel, birdhouse, water pump, and split-rail fencing.  I added some pretty bunches of flowers cut with the Garden Builder Die Set to this light and bright mini slimline card for a spring or summer feel, but this set is great for winter and fall too!

The barrel and birdhouse in the set can be used in so many ways…and I love all of the gorgeous embossed details these dies create!  Barrels can look quite masculine, but I cut white cardstock using the barrel die and inked it with Salvaged Patina and Pumice Stone Distress Inks for a soft and pretty look and added the bright birdhouse on top.

The water pump was cut from Phone Booth Cardstock for a pop of color in the background and added behind the white split-rail fence.  In front, I added three bunches of long grass, leafy sprigs, and flowers cut with the Garden Builder Die Set.

The entire scene is placed upon a white panel cut to 3.25″ x 6.25″ and inked lightly with Salty Ocean and Mowed Lawn Distress Ink to give the impression of a grassy field in the background.  I finished the card with a cute sentiment from the Welcome Sign & Sentiments Stamp & Die Set.

WELCOME FALL CARD

And here’s a similar scene created with the Rustic Garden Die Set but celebrating autumn thanks to a slight change in the color scheme and the addition of some gourds and wheat.  The fence and barrel were cut from Dune and Timber Cardstocks instead of white and I’ve also included the wagon wheel in this scene.  Edges were inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink to give them a warm glow.

There are plenty of pumpkins to choose from in the Seasonal Decor Die Set (I couldn’t help myself…I LOVE fall!) and I added three of them here.  A few sprigs of wheat, a sweet kitty, and some pretty little sunflowers from the Garden Builder Die Set bring it all together.

HOLIDAY CHEER PLANTER CARD

Here’s another cute way to use the barrel from the Rustic Garden Die Set…as a holiday planter!  I cut the barrel from Phone Booth and Timber Cardstocks and just trimmed off the top half after assembling.  Now you can fill it with almost any of the plants from the Garden Builder Die Set, but I chose just the pine sprigs, berry branches, and colored some of the flower stems to look like birch branches for a fun wintry vibe.

The rest of the card is quite simple.  I added the planter on top of a set of circles I cut from white and Mirror Gold Cardstock using the Postage Edge Circles Die Set and added a sentiment from the Welcome Sign & Sentiments Stamp & Die Set in the top corner.  The card front is a piece of Fern Cardstock that I embossed with the Diamond Plaid Embossing Folder and matted with Mirror Gold Cardstock before adhering to a square white card base.

WELCOME SIGN CARD

The Welcome Sign & Sentiments Stamp & Die Set was soooo much fun to design because it really has endless options.  There are two main styles of sign posts as well as 6 die-cut and 9 stamped decorative inserts.  Nearly 30 sentiment stamps can be mixed and matched to fit almost any occasion.  I chose the more ornate sign post and added a floral die-cut insert and simple sentiment for my sign to create this pretty card perfect for someone who recently bought a new home.

The split-rail fence from the Rustic Garden Die Set was adhered directly to the background panel with glue so that the sign and flowers could be popped up on top.  I love the layered hosta from the Garden Builder Die Set…I wanted a low, clumpy plant included in the set to add some contrast to some of the taller sprigs and flowers.

RUSTIC AUTUMN SIGN CARD

And of course I had to create an autumn card using this set as well!  Here I cut the simpler style of sign post from the set out of Dune Cardstock and stamped a pumpkin icon and fun sentiment on top.  I purposely added what I’d describe as “scenic sentiments” to the stamp set, so that the sign could be used as more of a decorative background element on the card, and a primary sentiment could be added elsewhere.

Any number of elements from the other die sets can be added to the base of the Welcome Sign…here I chose the wagon wheel from the Rustic Garden Die Set, wheat, sunflowers, and kitty from the Garden Builder Die Set, and pumpkins from the Seasonal Decor Die Set.  A simple background panel with embossed sentiment finish off this pretty autumn card.

SWEET BIRDHOUSE WREATH CARD

Maybe you don’t need to include the entire sign post too?  Here I stamped a sweet love sentiment and heart icon onto my sign insert and just hung my welcome sign from the edge of my card front.  The background was created by embossing a piece of Pink Sand Cardstock with the Geo Screen Embossing Folder.

With the Garden Builder Die Set, you can build a many-layered garden like I’ve shown in several samples above or even a wreath like this one.  After arranging some of the leafy branches in a circle, I added some simple flowers and a bird house to the center for a charming focal point on this sweet love card.

WAGON WHEEL WREATH CARD

And speaking of wreaths, the wagon wheel from the Rustic Garden Die Set is the perfect backdrop for a country-style wreath card.  I inked a white wagon wheel with Pumice Stone Distress Ink and added leafy branches and flowers to about two-thirds of it.  The bow is cut with the dies meant for the gift box in the Seasonal Decor Die Set.

I created my own woodgrain background with a scoreboard and swiping some blue and grey ink pads directly over the panel.  After adhering my rustic wreath to the card front, I popped another sweet sentiment from the Welcome Sign & Sentiments Stamp & Die Set up in the bottom corner.
