Today I’m sharing a cute way to catch up with a friend by mixing a couple of different Rubbernecker stamp sets. I love the quirky style of these fish and cat images, and thought that this fun sentiment was the perfect way to bring them together on a card.
COLORING THE CAT GROUP
- Stamp the Group of Cats image onto some Bristol Smooth paper using a waterproof ink like Versafine Clair Nocturne ink.
- Color the image with different grey, brown, and orange Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens, blending out the edges a bit with a waterbrush when needed.
- Colors used: Light Gray, Gray Brown, Gray, Brown, Light Brown, Oatmeal, and Sugared Almond Pink (noses and ears).
- Trim the panel down to about 3.5″ x 4.5″.
COLORING THE FISH GROUP
- Stamp the Fish Group image onto some Bristol Smooth paper using a waterproof ink like Versafine Clair Nocturne ink.
- Color the fish with bright, tropical colors, using 2-3 shades per fish for depth and dimension.
- Green Fish: Light Green, Yellow Green
- Blue Fish: Persian Green, Turquoise Green, Light Blue
- Orange Fish: Carmine Red, Orange, Yellow
- Pink Fish: Purple, Pink, Fluorescent Pink
- Die cut the fish out using the coordinating Fish Group die.
CREATING THE CARD FRONT
- Trim a piece of aqua cardstock to 4.25″ x 5.5″
- Lay the Cheesecloth Background Stamp face up on your work surface and apply Dreamer Ink (Color Fuse Set #9) to the entire surface. Place the aqua cardstock panel on top and press all over to achieve a nice, even impression.
- Die cut the panel using the largest die from the Inside Scallop Nested Die Set. Then, center the fourth smallest die from the Nested Oval Small Stitch Die Set on the panel and run it through your diecutting machine again.
- Stamp the “How about lunch!” sentiment from the Under the Sea Stamp Set in the lower right corner of the panel using Versamark Ink, cover it with white embossing powder, and melt it with your heat tool.
CARD ASSEMBLY
- Die cut a piece of royal blue cardstock with the largest die from the Nested Deckle Rectangle Die Set and adhere it to the front of a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive.
- Center the cat image behind the die-cut aqua card front and adhere it behind the window panel using foam adhesive. Adhere the card front to the royal blue panel using tape runner.
- Arrange the fish around the window and adhere them to the card front using foam adhesive.
I love how it looks like some of the cats are looking at different fish on the card front and some are just looking perturbed. This is definitely how my cats look at me while I’m feeding them!
I hope you enjoyed this fun and quirky card and thanks so much for stopping by today. Be sure to check out Rubbernecker Stamps on Instagram or visit their Facebook Fan Group for tons of inspiration!
