I fell in love with these Cats Front and Back stamps from Rubbernecker and kept wondering to myself what would make all of these cats line up and stare. In my house, the answer is simple – a squirrel! So I decided to put together a cute encouragement card where a young squirrel is making a very important decision in a pretty springtime garden. Inside the card, if it fits the occasion, you can always write “but not stupid”. 🙂
- Stamp the back side of the Cats Front and Back stamp set onto white cardstock using Copic-friendly ink. Repeat with the squirrel, acorns, and bees from the Woodland Animals #3 stamp set and the tree limb and leaves from the Woodland Animals #2 stamp set.
- Color the images with Copic markers and cut them out using scissors or the coordinating dies.
- Die cut white woodgrain cardstock once with the Arch Trellis Die and twice with the Picket Fence Die.
- Die cut light green, dark green, and pink cardstocks using the Tabbed Grass Set Die, Leaves and Greenery Die, and Small Flowers #3 Die, respectively.
- Shape the petals of the small flower using a ball stylus tool.
- Trim a piece of light blue cardstock to 4.25″ x 5.5″. Lightly blend Sonata ink around the edges with a blending brush to give the background a bit of depth.
- Stamp a sentiment from the Be Wild stamp set onto white cardstock using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink. Cut it out using the smallest Nested Deckle Rectangle Die (line it up once close to the top left corner of the sentiment and run it through your diecutting machine, then line it up with the bottom right corner and run it through your diecutting machine again).
- Blend Caramel ink around the die-cut sentiment panel to give the appearance of a wooden sign.
- To assemble, start by adhering the blue background panel to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner.
- Adhere the trellis and tree branch to the card front first with foam adhesive. Then add the fence on top with more foam adhesive. Adhere the grass and flowers directly on top of the fence with liquid glue, then pop the row of cats up on top with more foam adhesive.
- Add a tiny rope hanger made from natural twine to the trellis before adhering the sentiment sign over top with foam adhesive. Scatter vines and flowers around the sign with liquid glue.
- Add the squirrel in the tree, acorns on the fence, and bees around the scene with foam adhesive or liquid glue.
I hope you enjoyed this fun encouragement card and thanks so much for stopping by. Don’t forget to check out the latest release from Rubbernecker…you’ll find so many beautiful new stamps and dies for all of your spring projects!
