We’re nearing the end of February, so that means there are probably more than a few of us who are dreaming of the warmer temperatures and bright blossoms that are just over the horizon now. I’m usually one to jump into things headfirst, so I figured it was the perfect time for tropical flowers and neon colors.
Start by trimming pieces of Classic Crest Duplex Epic Black Cardstock and Rose Gold Foil Cardstock to 7″ x 10″, 4.75″ x 6.75″, and 4.875″ x 6.875″ respectively. Score the large black panel down the center to form a side-folding A7 card base. (Side note – how awesome is this cardstock for easy score-and-embellish card bases…jet black on the outside, smooth white on the inside, and super heavyweight too!)
Using two nested circle dies (from this set with nearly ALL of the circle dies you’ll ever need), cut a window out of the smaller black panel and a thin frame out of a scrap of Rose Gold Foil Cardstock. Die cut the black circle again using the smaller circle die, so that the gold frame and black circle will nest back into the card front panel again.
For a little texture, stamp all over the die-cut black panel in Versamark ink using the two wood panel images from the Perfect Pallets stamp set, add clear embossing powder, and melt with your heat tool.
Stamp the layered flower and leaf images from the Tropical Blooms stamp set onto Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock in brightly colored ink and die cut the images out with the coordinating dies. Here I’ve paired Screamin’ Green and Jelly Bean Green inks on the foliage, Poppin’ Pink and Passionate Pink inks on the smaller flowers, and Orange Glow and Tangerine Twist inks on the larger flowers, using the neon inks for the base layer and ink cubes for the detail layers.
Stamp one part of the sentiment onto Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock using Poppin’ Pink ink and die cut it out. Then stamp the second half of the sentiment onto the black die cut circle in Versamark Ink, add white detail embossing powder, and melt with your heat tool.
Assemble the card by layering the rose gold panel on top of the black card base, followed by the embossed black panel, rose gold frame, and black sentiment circle. Adhere everything down with tape runner.
Arrange the bright flowers around about two-thirds of the circle frame and adhere to the card base with foam squares. Here I used as many as three layers of foam squares to get tons of dimension in my floral arrangement.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope this bold, neon thinking of you card brightens your day and if you liked this project, please leave a comment below!
