Hello again friends! I’m excited to be back today to share a couple of projects made with the new Beautiful Wreaths Collection by Suzanne Hue from Spellbinders. (Check out the rest of the October release here…some really beautiful stuff this month!) This collection contains five die sets all geared towards building wreaths for any occasion, but elements from several of the sets can be used without a wreath base as well. Here I created three pretty cards with wreaths of different shapes and for three different seasons.
SUNFLOWER WREATH THANK YOU CARD
In the midst of all this fabulous autumn-ness right now, I couldn’t help but create a rustic wreath with sunflowers first using the Build-A-Wreath Die Set. I started by cutting the branch layers from the set from Portobello and Dune Cardstock and inking them with Vintage Photo Distress Ink before assembling them into a ring shape on top of some pretty plaid paper (matted with Mirror Gold Cardstock and adhered to a top-folding A2-sized white card base).
Next I cut the sunflowers from the Build-A-Wreath Die Set out of three different yellow cardstocks for a little variation – Sunkissed, Beeswax, and Chamomile. After adhering them on top of the wreath, I added lots of leaves cut from Rainforest and Fern Cardstock for extra color. The bow, cut from Terra Cotta Cardstock using the Garden Wreath Add-Ons Die Set, completes the rustic wreath. To finish off the card, I added a sentiment foiled in gold using the Mini Sincere Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set and some Gold Mix Gems.
BIRTHDAY HEART WREATH CARD
Next I wanted to play with some different shapes of wreaths…with so many different types of flowers and sprigs in the collection, you really can find a way to border almost any shape with a wreath! I started by trimming a piece of woodgrain patterned paper to 5″ square, inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink, and cut the center of the panel out with one of the Essential Heart Dies. Then I popped this background up on top of a 5.25″ square white card base with foam adhesive and got to work on my floral elements.
Nearly all of the flowers and leafy sprigs were cut using the Garden Wreath Add-Ons Die Set (one leafy sprig is from the Build-A-Wreath Die Set) and I chose bright pinks, oranges, and yellows for a cheerful look. I adhered the stems around about three-quarters of the heart window, leaving a little bit of empty space and forgoing a bow so that the design didn’t become overwhelming. To finish off the card, I added a sentiment cut from Timber Cardstock using the Birthday Wreath Add-Ons Die Set and a couple of Crystal Mix Gems.
CHRISTMAS TREE CLOCHE CARD
Lastly, you really can’t talk about a wreath collection without creating a Christmas card! There are plenty of examples of cards with traditional Christmas wreaths though, so I decided to build a little scene under a cloche with the Christmas Wreath Add-Ons Die Set instead. I started by adhering a piece of pretty plaid patterned paper to a top-folding A2-sized white card base. Then I cut Glacier Cardstock using one of the Essential Arches Dies and inked around the edges with Salty Ocean Distress Ink before adhering a few snowflakes from the Christmas Wreath Add-Ons Die Set on top.
The bow, tree, and poinsettia were also cut using the Christmas Wreath Add-Ons Die Set, but the pine sprigs are actually included in the Build-A-Wreath Die Set. I inked all of them with coordinating Distress Inks for some dimension and assembled them within my archway to create a pretty Christmas “cloche”. To finish off the card, I added a sentiment foiled in red using the Glitter Wishes Glimmer Plate Set and a single Gold Mix Gem as my flower center.
