Slimline cards are ideal for panoramic-type scenes, so today I’m filling two of those sweeping views with some of the adorable new woodland critters and characters from Rubbernecker’s latest stamp release. With three different woodland animal stamp sets and a huge garden gnomes stamp set, you’ll have plenty of creatures to stock your forests for autumn or any other time of the year.
AUTUMN CRITTERS CARD
This first card is all about those cute little critters on a beautiful autumn day. Using a mix of images from both the Woodland Animals #1 and Woodland Animals #2 stamp sets, I created a bright and cheery open forest scene to send to a happy hello to a friend.
- Start by die-cutting a piece of light blue cardstock with the Slimline Solid Deckle Die.
- Blend Sierra ink (Color Fuse Set #8) around the top and side edges of the cardstock to give the scene a little depth.
- Stamp a sentiment from the Kittie Says Friends Stamp Set onto the top center of the panel using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink.
- Stamp the images from the Woodland Animals #1 and Woodland Animals #2 stamp sets onto white cardstock using alcohol-friendly ink.
- Color the animals in using Copic markers and cut them out with the Woodland Animals #1 Die Set and Woodland Animals #2 Die Set.
- Adhere a piece of kraft woodgrain cardstock measuring 8.25″ x 3.25″ to a slimline-sized white card base using tape runner. Pop the inked background panel up on top using foam adhesive.
- Color the stump, branch, and stone images from the Woodland Animals #2 Stamp Set with Copic markers, cut them out with scissors, and adhere them directly to the background with liquid glue.
- Add grass cut using the Slimline Grass Die (coming soon!) and the autumn tree branch (stamped with the Woodland Animals #2 Stamp Set and colored with Copic markers) to the scene using foam adhesive.
Pop your colorful critters into the scene with foam adhesive and this easy card is done! I love the friendly vibe these beautiful illustrations have and think they are perfect for that sentiment!
AUTUMN GNOMES CARD
For this next card, I thought these cute gnomes deserved a thick autumn forest, so I mixed stamping, watercoloring, and die-cutting to make it a little more magical. Read on to see how the card comes together!
- Stamp the birch tree image from the Woodland Animals #3 Stamp Set onto masking paper and trim it out with scissors.
- Stamp a row of birch trees across a piece of watercolor cardstock using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink, varying the distance between trunks to create a more interesting forest. Whenever you stamp one tree close to the previous one, cover the first image with the mask to make the next tree look as if it is behind it.
- Quickly color the background panel with Peerless watercolors, blending out just a little Neutral Tint (grey) on one side of all of the tree trunks and adding a wash of Sky Blue to the sky between the trees.
- Die-cut the background panel using the largest die from the Slimline Nested Stitch Dies.
- To create the grass, first die-cut green cardstock using the largest die from the Slimline Nested Stitch Dies, then cut it with the Slimline Grass Dies (coming soon!) at the height you want your grass to be.
- To create the tree canopy, first die-cut yellow cardstock using the largest die from the Slimline Nested Stitch Dies, then cut it with the Slimline Clouds Dies (coming soon!). Using orange, yellow, and red Copic markers, quickly dot color all over the die-cut to look like autumn leaves.
- Stamp the characters from the Garden Gnomes Stamp Set onto watercolor cardstock using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink.
- Color the images in with Peerless Watercolors and a waterbrush.
- Die-cut them out using the Garden Gnomes Die Set.
- Mat the birch tree background with red cardstock and adhere it to a slimline-sized kraft card base using tape runner.
- Pop the tree canopy and grass die-cuts up on top with foam adhesive.
- Stamp a sentiment from the Garden Gnomes Stamp Set in Versamark Ink onto red cardstock, add white embossing powder, and melt it with a heat tool. Trim out the sentiment using scissors or a paper trimmer.
- Adhere the stones and mushrooms (Woodland Animals #2 Stamp Set) to the background with liquid glue and pop the gnomes, sentiment, and hedgehog (Woodland Animals #2 Stamp Set) up in the scene using foam adhesive.
I hope you enjoyed these cute autumn slimline cards and thanks so much for stopping by today. Be sure to check out Rubbernecker Stamps on Instagram or visit their Facebook Fan Group for tons of inspiration!
