Autumn Treat Pockets

I love to find pretty ways to hand out little treats every time a new season or holiday rolls around.  These small gestures can make workplaces a little less stressful and neighborhoods a little more close-knit.  Several gorgeous shades of Basis Cardstock from CutCardStock were used to make these easy autumn treat pockets.

Start by trimming pieces of Dark Orange, Gold, Orange, and Red Basis Cardstock to 5.125″ square.  Basis Cardstock is a great cardstock for treat boxes and bags because it’s sturdy, yet still light enough to be manipulated with score lines and folds.

The Dark Orange and Red panels were then stamped all over with a 6″ x 6″ gingham background stamp and Red Royal or Cup O’ Joe Mid-Tone inks, respectively, using a MISTI.

For a slightly different look, I blended Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin, and Scattered Straw Distress inks over the Orange and Gold panels using a blending brush and a 6″ x 6″ Fall Breeze Leaves stencil.  (Note: I am loving the Make Art Stay-tion for stenciling!)

To form the treat pocket, I used the 123 Punchboard.  Start by aligning the edge of the panel up with the 2″ mark along the top of the board, punch, and score both the Envelope Lines A and B.  Rotate the panel ninety degrees, line up the previous score line with the Envelope Score Groove, and punch and score again as before.  Repeat until all four sides are punched and scored.

Die cut an autumn shape (Simon Says Stamp) in the center of the treat pocket to form a window.  (Keep the patterned die-cuts to use as tags for your pockets or with another project!)

Adhere a 2″ x 3.5″ piece of Curious Gold Translucent Paper behind the window with tape runner.

Crease the score lines and assemble the envelope box using liquid glue.  You can fold over or trim the corner off of the panel that folds upward as shown to clean up the opening of the box if desired.

These pockets are sized perfectly for a Reese’s Thin Cup or Ghirardelli Square, but could hold a gift card as well.  Slip your treat inside and seal up the pocket with either a little bit of glue on the flap or some rustic twine as shown.

They make the perfect little autumn treat to brighten up someone’s day!

I hope you enjoyed this easy autumn gift project and thanks so much for stopping by today.  You can visit the CutCardStock store to purchase many of the supplies showcased today and if you liked this project, please leave a comment below.  What would you fill your treat pockets with?
