With the weather warming up lately around here, it’s getting harder and harder to spend so much of my free time cooped up in my craft room. This month’s Small Die of the Month Kit from Spellbinders was the perfect solution…I could die cut a few things inside and then hang out in the sunshine with a needle and a couple colors of thread for an hour or two!
“Stitched Thanks” is a massive set of 7 dies designed to cut a large stitchable backdrop piece (approximately 6.75″ x 3.25″) as well as bold, textured letters to spell out “thanks”. Used together, the die-cuts fill up the majority of a slimline card front, but the sentiment can also be used separately on any size card. And if you don’t enjoy stitching, the backdrop looks great just as a pretty pierced pattern.
I cut my backdrop out of Gold Mirror Cardstock (the foil is double-sided, so you can cut intricate designs like this with ease!) and stitched the patterns out using white, coral, and navy embroidery thread. (Numbered stitching maps are included with the kit to show you exactly how to do it if needed.) Then I cut the letters out of white cardstock and blended a little Abandoned Coral Distress Ink on the bottom half of them with a blending brush.
After adhering a piece of navy cardstock to the front of a top-folding white card base measuring 7.5″ x 3.75″ (slightly smaller than a normal slimline card), I popped the stitched backdrop up on top with foam adhesive. I added the letters on top with more foam adhesive and then embellished the card with a few gold pearls.
