Have you seen the latest Card Kit of the Month from Spellbinders? November’s kit, “Merry Wishes“, is chock full of goodies with a modern and elegant feel…including a beautiful Christmas lamp post die set and a stamp set with gorgeous sentiments and images of pines. I was so in love with this kit that I created six cards right away, but still have plenty of supplies to make tons more before Christmas!
As always, the die set in this month’s kit is amazing. With 10 pieces in all, you can cut and build a beautiful and detailed lamp post, then add a die cut wreath, flowers, bow, or more to decorate it. I placed mine in the foreground of a snowy village scene and added a sentiment from the stamp set next to it, embossed in gold. The distant village was created by stamping the pine forest in black ink and adding a die-cut row of buildings beside it.

Now let’s talk about this gorgeous stamp set. The sentiments and images are so pretty that I had to create a card focused just on stamping. I stamped the line of trees and sentiment onto white cardstock using Versamark Ink, added white embossing powder, and then melted it with a heat tool. Then I masked off the edges of the cardstock and blended Pink Tutu, Marina Madness, Dark Wash Jeans, and Raven Hybrid Ink over the embossed areas to create a night sky. It turns out the white embossing picked up the blue hybrid ink and wouldn’t let it go! Although it bothered me at first, I actually decided I liked the look (kinda ethereal and pretty I thought!) and decided not to redo it. So I added white paint splatters and popped it up on a card base for a clean and simple card.
The rest of my cards focus on the pretty papers and fun die-cut shapes in the kit (available separately if you don’t want the whole kit). I’m not going to lie, this Christmas collage was 100% inspired by Target’s Dollar Spot…the colors, the sweater, and even the fonts just scream trendy Target shopping to me, so I went with it! After adhering a piece of striped patterned paper to one of the card bases, I just piled up the die-cut shapes on top of one of the journaling cards in the kit and added a fun chipboard shape and some twine to finish it off.
I loved this cute little journaling card too, so I framed it with a tower of die-cut Christmas ball shapes and another cute chipboard embellishment before adding it all on top of another piece of beautiful patterned paper matted with some red cardstock from the kit.
The watercolored die-cut shapes in the kit make it easy to create quick and beautiful cards. Here I framed another pretty journaling card with flowers and pine sprig die-cuts before adding it on top of that gorgeous gold-striped paper.
Lastly, I created a wintry forest scene because I HAD to use the adorable Christmas deer die-cut. Using two different sheets of patterned paper to create the sky and snowy ground, I added a line of die-cut tree shapes to the horizon and a wobbly sentiment “moon” to the sky.
