Hi there and welcome! I’m so happy to be a guest designer for Pink & Main as they team up with My Sweet Petunia for this fun and inspirational blog hop! You should have arrived here from Giovana’s blog, but please click here if you’d like to start at the very beginning.
Be sure to visit and leave comments on all the stops along the way…two lucky commenters will be chosen to win one of two prizes: a $50 shopping spree at Pink & Main and a $50 shopping spree at My Sweet Petunia. Comments must be left no later than Sunday, April 1st, at 11:59 PM Central time and winners will be announced on Tuesday April 3rd, on the Pink and Main and My Sweet Petunia blogs.
I’m sharing several simple cards today made with both new and older products from Pink & Main (I have quite the collection of their adorable images!) and my original MISTI. This first project uses images and sentiments from the adorable “Joyful Easter” stamp set.
My first attempt at stamping didn’t go so great…because I had nestled the bunny and basket stamps very close to one another, part of the basket image didn’t receive the same amount of pressure and stamped incomplete. (Note: I customized my MISTI with turquoise stickers available from My Sweet Petunia…because turquoise. 🙂 )
But just look at those deep black, crisp lines formed when I simply inked my stamps up a second time with Versafine Onyx Black ink and stamped again! Though a simple and common technique, this is still my favorite reason to break out the MISTI for my projects.
To color the images, I used my Spectrum Noir ColourBlend Pencils and two to four shades of each color for lots of dimension (color listed below). I love how the pencils pop on kraft cardstock!
Sometimes you need to line up letters or a sentiment perfectly for a project…and my MISTI helps with that too! I used the etched grid lines on the lid to space letters from the “Floral Alpha” stamp set perfectly on my card front and stamp the word “spring” on some fairly textured watercolor cardstock.
By sliding my next card front into the same position, I was also able to create multiple cards with the same perfect spacing.
This first card was watercolored using Spectrum Noir Aqua markers and a waterbrush (colors listed below), then finished off with additional sentiments from the “Hugs Needed” stamp set. Here in my neck of the woods, Mother Nature dumped over nine inches of snow on the first day of Spring…so I’m sending some spring to anyone out there who needs it like I do!
For this sample, I embossed both the “Floral Alpha” letters and a hello greeting from the “Hello Sweet” stamp set in white on some medium grey cardstock and colored the images with very sharp Spectrum Noir ColourBlend Pencils (colors listed below). To show a peek of color underneath, I cut the bottom edge of the card front with the smallest of the “Scallop Border Dies” before popping it up with foam tape over a deep blue card base.
My final project is a fun watercolored card…oftentimes, I stamp my images on watercolor cardstock multiple times using my MISTI and then add clear embossing powder to ensure a complete impression on the textured surface of the card. Here, I colored images from the “Perfect Blend” stamp set with Spectrum Noir Aqua Markers (colors listed below) and a waterbrush before fussycutting just the area above the horizon line. For the background, I used the “Four Point Stars” stencil to add Pure Platinum embellishment mousse (Tonic Nuvo) to a piece of aqua cardstock before matting it and then adding my colored panel on top with foam tape.
I hope you enjoyed these fun springtime cards and thanks so much for stopping by today! Your next stop is Stephanie’s blog, but here is a list of all of the stops in today’s blog hop in case you lose your way:
